DurbanGirls1995

SARAH BLYTH

Ten years! I never thought it would fly by so quickly! The class of '95 reunion seemed infinitely far in the future when we were in matric...

After school I went to UCT and studied a Bsc. (Hons) in Physics and Astrophysics (1996-1999). After four years in Cape Town, I thought I'd try something completely different  and went and lived the high life as a management consultant in Joburg for a year and a half. Being a Durban girl, living hundreds of kilometres from the sea was not optimal! So I moved back to Cape Town for another 18 months (still working in consulting) before I decided to shed the power suits and return to the student life.

For the last couple of years, my boyfriend Mark and I have spent most of our time in Berkeley, California, at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab doing research. I graduated with my Masters in December (2004) and am now starting my PhD research in Nuclear Physics.

When we're not working, we try to see some of the rest of the USA (on a student budget!). Here we are attempting to snowboard at Lake Tahoe, California, and sight-seeing in New York City. I wish I could be home in July to see everyone again – it would be great fun to catch up on all the news!
