I'm still
single - not a state I overly like but I haven't met the right man yet, so... Let's see, about me: I'm afraid it's
not a terribly exciting tale! I'm a work-nerd and social life is a distant memory! We've (my parents, brother
and I) been in Auckland since Feb 1998. I graduated from University of Auckland with a BA in international politics
and Italian Language in 2001, gained a Graduate Diploma in communications and PR the following year and a Post Graduate Diploma
in Italian Translation the year after that. You might deduce from the above that Italian - laguage, culture, customs,
people - is my passion. and you'd probably think with all the Italian I'd be working in a field where I could use it but I
moved into HR instead (go figure)! (not to say that I won't one day pack it all in and move into an Italian translation
career) I started working for Mercer in June 2002 as a communications assistant in the superannuation
area (that is: pensions and retirement benefits) but have now changed tack and this year became the marketing coordinator
for Mercer New Zealand. My role basically entails working with the business leaders to create marketing plans and materials that
reflect the business goals and ensuring that our brand is consistent and well represented in the marketplace and being
seen by the right target audiences. It's a huge learning curve for me because I have no marketing qualifications beyond
a marketing communication paper that was part of my communications diploma - but it's fun and challenging all the same, so
I can't complain! Besides spending 1996 in Yorkshire in England (and going on a few jaunts to London and Scotland),
I haven't done any other major travelling since coming to New Zealand. I've been over to Sydney and Melbourne (which
are both stunning cities) a couple of times for work and I'm really keen to travel again soon. Thoughts of the reunion
have got my feet itching! I'm also very, very homesick. Here's a pic of me and Talya Botha, taken at my home
in Auckland in June 2003 when Tal came over to Aus and popped over to NZ for a visit.
