Tempus fugit! I can hardly believe it has been ten
years!
I am currently halfway through my PHD in International Relations (Political Science) here at UKZN.
I am a Committee Member of the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) in Durban, and
was greatly honoured to be invited to join the committee in 2004.
A brief history since leaving DGC:
From 1996-1999 I attended UND where I obtained my
BA in Legal Studies and Political Science, and thereafter my BA (Honours) in Political Science.
In 2000, I was awarded membership to the Golden
Key National Honour Society “in recognition of outstanding scholastic achievement and excellence”.
It was also during this time that I was overcome
with a need to travel and “explore” the world – over the past ten years I have travelled extensively throughout
Europe, from Tenerife in the Canary Islands all the way to Bosnia and Croatia in the Adriatic, and as far a field as Australia.
I lived in Germany for 3 years and Holland for 6 months. And have now come back to South Africa (after being struck
down by an acute case of homesickness). I plan on returning to Europe and pursuing my career
once I complete my PhD.
Whilst living in Germany, I decided to study
further and completed my Masters in European Studies in 2002.
I’ve been an intern for an automotive transmission
manufacturer – analysing the African automotive and transmission market; and a project researcher for an environmental
NGO. Presently I am working in the Family Business whilst I am compiling data
for my doctoral research.
