10 years certainly goes quicker than you think!!
I left DGC and headed to Maritzburg varsity where I studied
a BSC in Genetics and Psychology. Varsity was a fantastic time in my life! I was on the Orientation Committee in 2nd
year, which was a blast and I started playing waterpolo.
After Varsity it was off to London where I have been for the past six years. I have done extensive travelling
of Western and Eastern
Europe, with
Russia being the highlight of my travels.
In 2003, I thought it was time for a change so I packed
everything up, shipped it home and decided to sail around the world.
I was back in South Africa for four months doing a sailing course
and then getting organised for my Atlantic crossing. I set sail from Cape Town and went up the west coast of Africa making my way to Palma de Majorca. My voyage lasted 55 days, with
the longest stretch of not seeing land, being 27 days. It was an experience of a lifetime –Three crew members, a 44ft
catamaran, the big blue and me.
When I eventually made it to Spain, I worked as a stewardess on a 80ft
sailing yacht for three months. We cruised around the Med, including Menorca, Corsica, Sardinia, the Almalfi Coast and then finally making our way up
to Venice.
I ended my sailing career short and returned to
London – where the man of dreams awaited
me!!
I had met Shaun whilst I was in South Africa and after many a thoughtful night
at sea I realised that I couldn’t live without him.
I am currently studying for my CIMA and working
for a Private Jet Company in Sloane Square.
So that’s ten years in a nutshell.
I hope all you girls are happy!!
Take care,
Tracy x
